My 14 month old twins LOVE to read, or at least being read to, or just looking at the pictures! We do storytime before bed every night, and that started when they were still very little! They’ve always enjoyed us reading to them, and have grown to love certain books.
Here is a list of our top 5 favorite books to read before bedtime or anytime:
5. Never Touch a Dinosaur!
This fun little book is a favorite for touching and feeling! Never Touch a Dinosaur! is all about what to do when you meet a dinosaur: DO NOT TOUCH IT! They have so many different versions of this book: Never Touch a Spider!, Never Touch a Dragon!, and even Never Touch a Monster!
4. Good Night, Thomas
Good Night, Thomas is one of Elijah’s favorite books! He has us read him this one over and over again. It’s all about Thomas seeing a shooting star one night when he couldn’t fall asleep. He wanted to see it again, so he goes in search of the shooting star! Does he find it? You’ll just have to read and find out! Also, the version of the book that we have glows in the dark which is pretty cool!
3. Good Night, My Love
Does your child love books with flaps? Then this one is for you! Emery loves these books! We have this one and two others: I Love You, Little Pumpkin and Merry Christmas, Little One! I would say that these ones are her absolute favorite to look at. She can sit there forever just turning the pages and peeking behind all of the fun flaps!
2. Chicka Chicka, BOOM BOOM
Get ready to learn your ABC’s with this fun book! There are two versions: Chicka Chicka BOOM BOOM ABC (the shorter board book), and the original Chicka Chicka BOOM BOOM. We own both and our kids love them! We point to the letters on the pages, and when we get to the end we make sure to shake and fall just like the letters do in the book!
1. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
I would say that this is definitely Elijah and Emery’s FAVORITE book. I think we have read this one every night since they were about 5 months old. Everyone in our household knows it word for word. We have two versions of this book. The original and the slide and find version. We love making the animal sounds that go along with the pictures, and the kids do too! Just ask them what sound a goldfish makes!
