I gave birth to twins on November 29th, 2017. In the months leading up to that we had two baby showers and one diaper party. They were all amazing, and we got so many great gifts, but what were some of my favorites? You’re about to find out:
10. Diapers & Wipes
At both of my baby showers we had diaper and wipe raffles, and gave out great prizes! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND having these raffles! We got so many diapers and wipes because for each package of diapers or wipes you brought you got a raffle ticket. We raffled off Bath and Body Works sets, and a couple other things. Don’t be discouraged by thinking you can’t exchange diapers for the next size up. Stores like Target, Costco, and Walmart will let you exchange for the next size as long as they sell them in store!
We got so many blankets at my baby showers. A lot were hand made which I LOVED! At first I was a little overwhelmed by how many we got, but come to find out YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY BLANKETS. Especially if your baby hates being swaddled like our twins did. We kept blankets everywhere: in the nursery, in the living room, in the car, in the diaper bag. With our twins being born in the beginning of winter we always kept them wrapped up, and having blankets kept in each room helped us keep them cozy and warm!
8. Recieving Blankets & Burp Cloths
Just like normal blankets I recieved a lot of these, and the were mostly handmade. These were great to have a lot of! Having twins, I felt like I needed one every second of the day.
7. Changing Table
When I was putting together a registry, people kept telling me NOT to put a changing table on there. “You won’t ever use it, and it will just sit there.” Well let me tell you, I was so thankful for our changing table after our twins were here. I was still having problems with my hips after we got home from the hospital so I couldn’t get down on the floor to change them because I couldn’t get back up. So when it came time to changing our little ones I was so grateful to have a changing table downstairs. (We lived in a townhouse when they were first born.) We also had one upstairs that was attached to their crib. We used them until they were about 5 months. At that point they were rolling over and almost crawling so it was safer for us to change them on the floor. We got some great use out of our changing tables, and I highly recommend them!
6. WubbaNub Pacifiers
Even though our twins never got into the whole pacifier thing I still loved getting these! Our babies are now 14 months and these are attached to their carseats as teething toys! They’ve never really sucked on them, but have gummed the heck out of them! I have so many friends that have their babies use these, and I always hear great things! What’s better then a snuggly pacifier?
5. Fisher-Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat
We got these in place of Bumbos! We started putting our little ones in these around 4ish months (when they could hold their heads up really well.) Our kids loved sitting in them. I would put them in these little seats while I showered, while we ate dinner, or when I was picking up around the house. The little tray was awesome to have, and the seat covers are removable so we had them sit in these when they started eating solids as well! They are great little chairs and I highly recommend them!
4. Rocking Chair
Ah! My rocking chair. This is an exact picture of the one that was purchased for me by my husband’s grandmother. I would not have been able to live without it! It’s so comfortable, and was the only way I could get my babies to sleep most nights. I still use it every once in awhile, even though my babies are so long now and barely fit in it with me.
3. Pack ‘n Play with Bassinet
If you are going to get a Pack ‘n Play I suggest getting one with a bassinet. When our twins were born, our plan was to put them in our room with us, and let them sleep in this. Well our plan back fired when I could barely get out of bed, and we ended up sleeping on the couch for 2 months. It did come in handy for traveling though! I would go and spend a week with my in-laws once a month and we would take our Pack ‘n Play and that is what our babies would sleep in. It’s a great thing to have!
For our baby showers I asked for guests to bring their favorite books and to write a sweet message in them instead of bringing cards. I had seen this previously at another friends baby shower and I loved the idea! Now my twins have a little library of books which they love. Emery and Elijah just love looking at books and being read to.
1. Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play
I LOVED our Rock ‘n Plays!! I cannot say that enough. For the first two months these are all our babies slept in. My husband and I slept on the couch and the babies slept in their Rock ‘n Plays. There are a few different types of Rock ‘n Plays out there. Ours were the ones that only vibrated. Which was still great for us! We just rocked them manually with out feet. The babies still loved them. They’re great for reflux because they keep baby at an angle, and also good for sick babies with runny noses. Our twins used these until they figured out to sit up on their own (around 6ish months).
